Spring Prep (Ages 13-14)
Player age for Spring baseball is age as of April 30, 2026.
PIYB 13-14-year-old program is franchised with Dixie Boys Baseball (DBB).
PIYB 12U programs are franchised with Diamond Youth Baseball (DYB).
Dixie Boys Baseball is a separate entity from Diamond Youth Baseball. The organizations do share some of the same values, resources and local support.
The DBB guidelines and playing rule options for the 13-14s will give us a clear framework to follow this spring.
DBB will host the NC State Tournament in Brunswick County this July for All-Star Teams, and PIYB can enter up to two teams.
Regarding field dimensions for DBB, you can expect the High School / Middle School size field with 60' 6" mound / 90' base paths (close as possible).

Interestingly, the Brunswick County Parks & Rec Department runs a similar program for kids living in Brunswick County during the late spring months of May and June. We plan to offer our program around the same time, with teams starting practice in April and skills assessments scheduled for sometime in March.
A couple of major things we considered include access to appropriate field space and a supportive governing body that will provide PIYB with the necessary guidance to best serve our participating kids.
Spring Format: Games will take place on weekdays throughout May and June, with each lasting 6 innings or up to 1 hour and 50 minutes (middle school games are 6 innings).
Location: The primary location for this Spring will be ball fields located between Monkey Junction and Carolina Beach.
Practice: Coaches will be able to access a variety of fields and training areas for team practices during the week and on weekends. Locations and times will be determined by number of Spring participants.
We understand the importance of providing a local baseball option for kids in this age group.
This Spring should be fun!
